THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE EXHIBITION: “COLORS AND PATTERNS: THE JOURNEY TO IRANIAN ART”

 

The opening ceremony of the exhibition "Colors and Patterns: The Journey to Iranian Art" took place at the Hanoi Museum on August 23, 2024. The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Vietnam organised the Exhibition in collaboration with the Hanoi Museum to celebrate the 51st anniversary of Vietnam-Iran diplomatic relations.

Attending the exhibition were Mr. Ali Akbar Nazari - Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu – Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Vuong Duy Bien - Former Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Ngo Tuan Phong - Deputy Director of the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition; Mr. Nguyen Tien Da - Director of Hanoi Museum, along with Ambassadors, members of the Diplomatic Corps in Hanoi, press reporters and visitors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Ali Akbar Nazari - Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran said: "As most of you know, Iran has always been an art and cultural matrix of the world and contributed to the richness of world's arts and cultures, encompassing a myriad of artistic expressions. From carpet weaving to Persian miniature, pottery to architecture, music to calligraphy, khatam-kari to vitreous enamel and wood mosaic, Iranian handicrafts are matchless and beautiful advertising tools to represent Iran's cultural heritage. It is proud to say that Iran has the most craft cities and towns registered with the World Crafts Council with 14 entries.

To take advantage of the affluence in Iranian handicraft art, this exhibition is organized to present a small part of harmonious combination of valuable handicrafts and photographs revealing the distinctive beauty of Iranian art and attracting us with their elegance, patterns and designs. I invite you to immerse yourself in the world of Iranian art after the exhibition's opening and enjoy this journey through the patterns and designs that define the essence of our culture”.

Mr. Ali Akbar Nazari - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Vietnam, spoke at the event.

Also, at the opening ceremony, Mr Nguyen Minh Vu - Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, shared: "Traditional cultural values, connecting the present and looking towards the future are important foundations for the two countries to establish friendship and multi-faceted cooperation, building and developing relationships over the past 51 years. The two countries have many similarities and advantages that can complement each other so that the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Iran continues to develop for the benefit of the two peoples, as well as peace and stability in the two regions and the world".

The exhibition includes two display areas: The photos of lotus motifs at the Persepolis Palace Complex built by order of Darius the Great (518 - 465 BC and continues to be completed with Emperor Xerxes I (550 - 486 BC). We are introducing the works of contemporary Iranian miniature master artist - Mahmoud Farshchian.

The area displays more than 100 handicraft works, representing about ten types of Iranian art, such as Copper Engraving (Qalam-zani), Enameling or Mīnākārī (Minakari), Carpet weaving (Qali bafi), Persian Khatamkari (Khātamkārī), Firoozeh Koobi (Fīrūzeh Kūbī), Block Printing on fabric (Qalam-kari), Stone embroidery (Sermeh-doozi), Handwoven fabric (Termeh-bafi), Bronze Painting (Mes-o-pardaz).

The organising committee hopes that through the exhibition, the Vietnamese public will have more information about Iran's artistic heritage, opening up opportunities for cultural and artistic exchanges between the two peoples and contributing to tightening bilateral relations between the two countries.
